Our story
Hello there! My name is Olga and I have a son and a daughter. They are 1 year and 6 months apart.
When I was pregnant with our first one, I found a birth photographer from Russia. She was able to capture the art of birth. I wrote to her immediately and invited her to record our birth in New York and stay with our family. It was lovely and professional. The birth of our daughter Annabella is forever here for us to cherish.
“9 months later, we found out that we would become parents for the second time. That was one month before the pandemic started and we needed more protection for us and the people we love.”
During my 8th month of pregnancy, I started to look into maternity photography and nobody met my expectations. Everything felt cold and impersonal, no one even wanted to engage if I wasn’t ready for the 1 hour photoshoot starting at $600. So here I found an opportunity to change the way most people present their services and speak with future mamas and their partners. Here we built a caring and understanding space for you.
I wanted to document the birth story of our baby boy Leo and needed to find a photographer with such experience and with a doula license. Hospitals during the pandemic allowed only one partner and licensed doula. Some people without any birth photography experience wanted to charge just to use our opportunity as training. An experience I will never repeat. After days of searching, I finally ended up meeting caring and professional people who I trusted to be a part of our birth.

After birth I wanted to give my baby a newborn session. When I finally found who I would love to work with, I made the request to keep my picture private, without posting us to an instagram account. That would’ve caused my price to go up 50%. I felt that that was not right.
I believe if the professional wants to use pictures people paid for, they will give you a discount and make sure you are comfortable with the posting. That is one of the things I want to change. You have the freedom to choose privacy without an additional cost.
It was a beautiful experience to have my husband with me for the entire process for both children but it was still a stressful event for the family. It took time for us to reflect and accept that along with our happy feelings, we also had heavy emotions from the birth.

You may avoid talking about it, because it can be tough to face these feelings one more time. And sometimes it’s ok. Or sometimes you will want to cope with it. In any case, we offer support groups or individual sessions with a psychologist where you can look at this experience from a different angle.
During my second pregnancy, I experienced these struggles to find the right person to capture the special moment as well as a lack of support. After all of these unpleasantries, I decided to create a safe and professional community for families and change the entire experience. We have built a place where we can be there to capture your special memories but also support you in this major life event. As your Cherish team, we care about your feelings and your time. Time is the most important thing you have, and nobody should take this from you.
I have a masters in Clinical Psychology, and attended Business school in Management. Before I moved to the United States, I had a marketing agency for 8 years. I filled many roles at once. During the past 2 years, I dove into videography and returned into psychology.
