Home birth has special magic. Birthing persons can have everyone she wants around— partners, friends, family, sisters, brothers, grandparents, midwives, doulas, assistants, and photographers. Everyone present waits for the baby to be born, for that exact life-changing moment. To have so much space and freedom for birth is truly special. You have so much time to try everything you want and to make sure the moment is right.
On the other hand, having so many people around can be a distraction from the birth process. It needs to be quiet, dark, and warm. The atmosphere & ambience around should be focused only on helping the pelvis to open and giving the baby enough time to arrive safe & healthy.
I arrived there at 6 pm and left at 9:30 am. The total amount of time was 15,5 hrs + 4 hrs of driving = 19,5 hrs without sleep, but I’m happy with all the shots I got and capturing the special moment.
